On the 6th of March 2021 Environment and Safety Management Institute organized a one day workshop and award ceremony with the theme: Tackling pandemic through environmental safety.

In her welcome address, Registrar of the Institute Mrs Agu Evelyn informed the gathering that the Environment and Safety Management Institute is committed to actively engage stakeholders in promoting improvements in environmental and safety policy in Nigeria.  According to her, the seminar and award ceremony was  one of such efforts. She  urged   all the participants  to stand firm behind the institute in supporting the activities of the institute both in Adamawa State and anywhere in Nigeria.

According to her, “Some of our programmes which deserve your support include the Environment and Safety Volunteers (ESV) which was established to help people at the grassroots to understand how to achieve good health and sustainable environment in their communities. We are also planning a research centre which when completed will be a resource to this great nation in the area of environmental safety research, we urge you to generously support the institute towards this end by contributing your resources in ensuring that it is completed.”

During the event stakeholders stressed the need for all hands to be on deck to ensure a healthy environment through effective waste management and sustainable environmental protection. Highlights of the event included the induction of new individuals into the Fellowship of the institute by the Director General of the institute who was represented by the national president.

Dr Lionel Von Frederick Rawlins from American University of Nigeria, Hon Isa Abubakar member representing Shelleng, Prof. Liman Tukur ,VC MAUTECH, Dr. Sani Shallangwa MCRP state coordinator, Alh Abdulrahman Zubairu group lead HSE Dangote group, Mrs. Garba Tabitha FIIRO Northeast Zonal coordinator, Alh Adamu Abubakar  the Adamawa state coordinator NEWMAP, Alh Abubakar Rufai founder water max, Dr Tanko Binibori Salihu Federal poly Mubi, Mr. Fewudu Ibrahim Umaru from Adamawa state Primary Health Care Agency, Rajendra Pratap Singh of Adama Beverages Yola.

 

The Event was attended by the permanent secretary ministry of Environment, The Chikasoro Adamawa Alh. Mohamed Ahmed Mustapha, the Controller, Federal Ministry of Environment, the State Coordinator NESERA, some members of the Adamawa State House of Assembly as well as representatives of various state and federal MDAs.
